Recently, the NB-IoT Camera-based Smart Water Meter Technology Seminar and the kick-off meeting for the group standard General Technical Specifications for NB-IoT Camera-based Smart Water Meters was grandly held at the SECK Building. The event was co-hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Economic and Technical Cooperation and its Standardization Working Committee, and undertaken with great dedication by Hangzhou SECK Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SECK").

Leaders, authoritative experts and numerous participants from the water meter industry gathered here to jointly explore the development trends of NB-IoT camera-based smart water meter technology, and officially initiated the compilation of the relevant group standard, which injects new impetus into the standardized development of the industry.

Currently, the market for NB-IoT camera-based smart water meters is developing rapidly, yet the absence of unified technical standards and specifications has led to uneven product quality, thus hindering the healthy development of the industry. The project initiation and compilation of this standard aim to fill the industry gap, clarify key contents including product technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules, and provide a unified basis for product R&D, production, inspection and market application.

The meeting was presided over by Wang Xi, Director of the Standards Department of the Standardization Working Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Economic and Technical Cooperation. Liu Junhua, President of the Committee, and Zhuang Ruiban, Director of the Corporate Research Institute of SECK, delivered speeches in succession.

In the session of standard discussion and revision, led by Li Xiaoyu, Deputy Director of the Standards Department of the Standardization Working Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Economic and Technical Cooperation, the attending experts and representatives held in-depth and meticulous discussions on all clauses of the standard document. Combining their own experience in R&D, production and application, they expressed their respective views on the technical parameters, performance indicators, safety requirements and other contents specified in the standard, and put forward a great many constructive revision opinions and suggestions. Relevant technical person in charge of SECK also took an active part in the discussions and, based on the company’s practical experience in product R&D, contributed practical cases and professional expertise to the refinement of the standard document.

This seminar has reached extensive consensus on the technological development of NB-IoT camera-based smart water meters, laying a solid foundation for the compilation of the relevant group standard. Going forward, the standard compilation working group will carefully sort out the opinions and suggestions put forward by all experts and representatives, accelerate the revision and refinement of the standard document, and ensure that the standard will form a submission draft for approval and be officially issued and implemented at the earliest possible date.

The successful convening of this NB-IoT Camera-based Smart Water Meter Technology Seminar and Group Standard Initiation Meeting has built an efficient platform for technical exchange and joint standard development in the water industry. Notably, as the organizer, SECK has fully demonstrated its industrial influence and technical commitment in the field of smart water meters. As early as 2012, SECK took the lead in launching the independent R&D of camera-based smart water meters, emerging as one of the first enterprises in China to conduct R&D in this domain.
